Now, Wake Up Sid and me have had a complicated relationship so far. Even though I did not like it at my first viewing, this movie has kinda grown on me, just because it sets out to achieve what it is – a non-preachy, no-story, lukewarm eye-pleaser. Lemme tell you why on the first viewing it did not appeal to me at all – because of its unreal depiction of a single unemployed lady suddenly living in a ‘lavish’ [ by Mumbai standards ] apartment and doing all sorta renovation work on it even before she has to see her first paycheck. And then it all goes gaga about Sid waking up – but what was he waking up to? Becoming more responsible and waking up to Duniyadari? Seriously? That is shown by a montage of Sid organising Aisha’s room, and then going for an intern photographer job for a Mumbai magazine – which would pay how much – 15k at best? We are talking about the son of a CEO of Flower Shower – a company which supplies showers and bathroom fittings to Birla as well as a Bhajiya-wala. Anywho!!! enough of complaining.
On my recent holiday trip home, I caught up on Wake Up Sid for the second time [ courtesy Air India's in-flight entertainment ] and I couldn’t stop noticing the huge range of awesome tee-s that Sid [ Ranbir Kapoor ] flaunts throughout the length of the movie. Now, I am no fashion guru like some of you awesome people are. But I can definitely point out what’s cool and what’s not. And Sid’s range of T-Shirts are definitely on the cool list. Here’s one for instance.
Flashin' Sid
Costume Designers Manish Malhotra and Priyanjali Lahiri have certainly struck the right cord.
Check the whole bunch after the jump. And yeah, look at what the designers decide Ranbir to wear when he “WAKES UP”. Beware: LOTSA Screenshots in this post.
Spongebob Duvet
Mickey Moused!
Yeah! The Joker
Cool..Cool!! Beavis and Butthead
Star Wars..woohoo
Atom Ant
Robin
Enterprise
Superman
Being the Hulk
Snoopy
Batman
Ghostbuster..hang on...Sid, where are your eyes mate?
Tom and Jerry
Here’s the best one.The best T-Shirt ever..behold people…
Trekki Trekker...whatever!!
In the words of the great Freddie Mercury, I want it all. Now have a look at what they did to him to show what happens to Sid’s fashion sense when he “wakes” up.
Sid decides to wear a shirt now…
Shhhhh..hirt
And even wear a ladies kurti…

Okay, enough of fashion talk. Lemme just conclude with a few more screenshots capturing the moments that I really liked in this movie.
Justice on my PC..how cool is that!
Best mates.. a laugh about a break up
The wet climax..not because it was romantic..coz Mumbai loves a good shower
Awww...young Supriya jee...
And last of all….
Mamma and Beta... how cute together
Phew! That took me watching the DVD three times to get my desired screenshots. I wish I showed this much dedication in everything else.

Cool post mate, i utterly love the Beavis and Butthead t-shirt the most, as far as the high street here goes, Primark has the most incredible range of super hero t shirts and all at a decent price too. That Spongbob duvet is a bit much for me, i prefer simple plain sheets on my bed.

Thanks B, I’m still to find those Beavis n Butthead ones. I always loved them when they used to be aired on MTV…the silly laugh and the catch line – Kheewwll…Khewwll.. hehehe
I did buy some from Primark…like the Marvel one I wore on Saturday, and a few Superman ones. I also have one of a Storm Trooper which I got from Tesco. Normally, you can get geek t’s from Forbidden Planet, but they are often quite expensive – compared to Primark. While you can get it for 6-8 quid in Primark, at FP they cost around 12-15 quid, which is just wrong.

Tell me about it. You can just go on and on and on… My laptop is filled with screencaps…In the Southall meetup last weekend with Beth, Bollywood Deewana and other bloggers, we were discussing the same – lot of screencaps occupying my hard drive, and we don’t delete them, hoping we’d use them in some future post, which more often than not, doesn’t happen at all
But yeah, Sid’s tees are awesome

Liked the tee’s a lot, but can’t say the same about the movie. Ranbir’s character was a man-child.

Noticed how the colors changes as movie progresses?
vibrant at initial stage and darker and whites towards the end.
My fav is Snoopy Tee.

I don’t think the choice of colours is a conscious decision…and I did not follow that transition any way… Sid does get to repeat a few of his T’s which makes it a bit real… I’ve never been a fan of Peanuts anyway, so that Tee is just ok. However the Star Wars and Trek ones are really good.

Many of these Tees are from Next! Even the socks.

How did you get that info dude? Although, I might check out if Next does have what I am looking for, and also hope that they aren’t as expensive as Forbidden Planet. Cheerio

I was a loyal customer at Next
Next isn’t expensive at all. I bought a cool Star Wars branded tee for 18 GBP (last Nov).

I like your post. I will admit that I didn’t notice all of the cool t-shirts that Ranbir wore in the film. I was too busy wanting the tips that Koko wore.
I find that is most films you have to suspend reality in some form or another. I enjoyed wathong this one.

As much I picked flaws in the movie , frankly the movie grew on me .. Its a simple tale told in a rather simpler way .. and no melodrama (thankfully) unlike many bollywood movies .. and yea I did watch it on inflight enternatinment on Emirates ..

Yes, quite strangely, the movie has also grown on me,. Its simplicity and especially Koko’s loveable character are to die for. But yeah, Ranbir’s character is a manchild, and that irritates me completely.

Kokonkona Sen’s kurtis were awesome too. Likes somebody else mentioned, we girls were more focused and interested in the absolutely lovely kurtis Konkona wore although we did notice Ranbir’s T shirts in the passing!
