I was here for the Pub Rock fest here in Pune. Need some reviews of the event. I only attended the Undying concert and it was badass. How was Rachelle Van Zanten and Aurora Jane. Any inputs?

I couldn't agree more. Just in the name of producing different music, they have come up with a convenient and a lazy way of producing music with lyrics like, ae bhagwan mujhko zindagi dubara de. Raghu Dixit sucks and so does his lungi project. Great post.

Very incisive observations.

Desi rock bands sound good because they generally start of by copying other rock bands - mostly videsi ones. They have music to look up to.

Fusion bands dont. If they try to look at shakthi etc. for inspiration, they wont get even the audience they get now. And anyway you cant expect part-timer bands to play like Maclaughlin or L Subramanian as compared to copying a few licks from Slash. There is going to be amateurism for sometime in the fusion scene. Hopefully if the audience keep growing better things will come out of it all. Maybe a matter of time. Or if there is no support, maybe bollywood will just swallow up these bands. May bring some originality to bollywood music at least.

BTW heard Mr. Sanjeev Naik from Swarathma play - if the guy plays the game right he has a bright future.

@ TechSadhu,

Oh you must have been there and you'd surely come up with all these whacky ideas. That's because the music was make me chuckle rather than make me feel lost in it. Anyway, thanks for the visit and hope you visit here more.

Cheers!

Hey Sujoy,

"I could only imagine such music to be played as a background score in some Doordarshan late night documentary on the North-east India."

Haha! That's a fantastic Quote..... :)
