I am extremely happy to announce the return of Bollywood Podcast with this year-end special where we rant about the hits and misses of Bollywood in 2014. And by we, I mean, Beth, Carla, and myself. On this podcast, we praise the many women centric movies that came out this year, and the many flavours of stories that were attempted – some of which succeeded more than others. Imtiaz Ali’s Highway turned out to be the movie that got a bit of bashing and loving on the podcast. And Queen was unanimously the top movie of the year. We spoke of the top actors, and laughed at the epic fails, and also discussed the movies that we are looking forward to watching in 2015. There’s even a big “Whatever” past the 1 hour mark. You’ve got to listen to the podcast to find out why. So, check it out –
After a long delay, again due to my second to none laziness, we are back with this episode of Bollywood Podcast. And it has become a part of the annual tradition for us to celebrate the Rekha birthday month as #Rekhatober. If you remember, we did a Madam X podcast last year (guess, I would have to reupload that somewhere). And this year, we thought to push the envelope a little bit more. On the podcast we have Uncle Jeetendra sticking out his tongue, Danny and his evil grin almost chewing the entire scenery, Rishi Kapoor and his “flute”, Mandakini being bear-hugged, and then there’s REKHA. They all come together to form this insane package called – SHESHNAAG!!
As usual, joining me in this laughathon, is Beth from Bethlovesbolly. The audio quality feels like I am speaking from 1950’s. Sorry about that. But I promise this will be taken care of from the next episode onwards. As for now, enjoy the podcast. Psst, we also did a mini-take on SRK’s latest Happy New Year (how I liked it, and Beth – not so much).
Look at Danny, trying to get all French with a snake. He’s that badass. Now go and listen to that podcast, or he’ll haunt you. Leave your suggestions and comments below, or bug us on twitter (@9e3k | @bethlovesbolly)
I’ve known Bhargav (Saikia), the producer of Kaafiron Ki Namaaz (KKN), for a few years now. I have curiously followed him and his team at Lorien Motion Pictures at every stage of the making of their pet project – from the updates of their soundtrack recording with Javed Ali and Usha Uthup, to photos from the on-location shoot in Kashmir. I suppose with social media, it gets a bit easy to do so. I suppose, that is why it feels like I have known KKN for quite some time now. When I got the opportunity to watch the finished piece in Bhargav’s personal screening room – an iMac plugged into Sony speakers, I simply jumped on it. This post on KKN has been sitting in the draft stage for a few months. And apart from my own lazyness, there is one more reason why it has been so. KKN left me with several unanswered questions and a blank stare. That makes it a difficult one to write about. Nevertheless, here’s my attempt.
It has been quite a while since I did a podcast. And this seemed to be the best way to break the dry spell. The bang of sorts, that was required to announce the return. We are celebrating Mithjune – the birthday month of Mithun da. And to celebrate Mithjune on Bollywood Podcast, we have chosen this crazy awesomeballs movie from 1983 – KARATE! Joining me on this podcast is Beth (@bethlovesbolly) from BethLovesBollywood.
Directed and Starring Deb Mukherjee, this is 80’s masala pushed to the extreme. There’s disco, kicks, nunchucks, Mazhar Khan’s disco moves, lady mudfights, Kader Khan in martial arts gear and so much more. To find out more, listen to the podcast below.
Also, check out the crazy ass screencaps below. You know you want to watch this!!
