And in that crackling fashion, the soundtrack begins. It is one of Rahman’s most awesome soundtracks by far and is up there along with Roja, Bombay, Taal, Kadalan and Rangeela. Although Rakesh Mehra’s translation of the songs onto screen was exceptionally brilliant [more on that in a bit], Delhi 6 as a movie divided the audience opinion. I for one, loved it, and there were some who just couldn’t look beyond Abhishek’s annoying fake Amriki accent and the whole Kala Bandar story and of course Big B’s Godly cameo. And when I fail to convince them, all I need to do is to show them this.
But people, don’t let me lose my focus. This post is about the melody, the beauty and the masterpiece that is -the soundtrack of Delhi 6. It is in a word -Brilliant. It is not a hoch poch of different genres, but Rahman offers a mixed bag of awesome goodness from Techno to Qawwali to Classical to Folk. So, let’s just sit back, and relish its brilliance and get swooned by its tunes.
